About 9,600 Thomas & Friends and 1,500 Amazing Spider-Man toys are being pulled in Canada because they contain unsafe levels of lead, Health Canada said Thursday.
The recall applies to the following products:

- Thomas & Friends Rocking Chair UPC 8-59816-17406-7.
- Thomas & Friends Activity Desk UPC 8-59816-17404-3.
- Thomas & Friends 9 Bin Toy Organizer UPC 8-59816-17407-4.
- The Amazing Spider-Man Table & 2 Chairs UPC 8-59816-17501-9.
- The Amazing Spider-Man Toy Box UPC 8-59816-17511-8.
- The Amazing Spider-Man Step Stool UPC 8-59816-17508-8.
- The Amazing Spider-Man Twin Bedroom in a Box UPC 8-59816-17532-3.
The Thomas & Friends were sold through retailers including Wal-Mart, Toys "R" Us, Overwaitea Foods and the Spider-Man products were sold Zellers, Sears and specialty stores. The products were sold from June 2005 through Oct. 1, 2007.
Consumers should return the products to the store for a refund.
High amounts of lead can harm the nervous system, kidneys and other major organs. Anemia, a decline in red blood cells, can occur, as well as damage to the nervous system that may impair mental function. At worst, lead poisoning can cause seizures or death.
Hundreds of thousands of toys were recalled separately in the U.S. Thursday due to unsafe lead levels. Thousands of Thomas & Friends toys have been recalled this year for the same safety problem.
