Halloween pails, bookmarks and puppet theatres on Wednesday were recalled for containing high amounts of lead, the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission said.
The recall applies to the following products:
- 55,000 Albert's skull pails filled with candy, sold in U.S. stores from September 2007 through October 2007 for about $2 US each.
- 200,000 Antioch Cool Clip and Mini Cool Clip bookmarks sold in U.S. stores from April 2003 through October 2007 for about $4 US each.
- 5,400 Guidecraft tabletop puppet theatres sold in U.S. stores, and through catalogues and online retailers from June 2006 through August 2007 for about $35 US each.
All the products were made in China.
Consumers should take the products away from children and contact the company for return instructions.
High amounts of lead can harm the nervous system, kidneys and other major organs. Anemia, a decline in red blood cells, can occur, as well as damage to the nervous system that may impair mental function. At worst, lead poisoning can cause seizures or death.
No injuries or incidents have been reported.
