1M Dunkin' Donuts glow sticks pulled for strangulation, choking hazards

Massachusetts-based Dunkin' Donuts is recalling about one million pink-and-orange glow sticks because they pose serious safety hazards to young children, the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission said Wednesday.

The glow sticks, which were given away as a promotional item with doughuts, lack labels warning consumers that the cap and lanyard can detach, presenting a possible choking hazard to children. The CPSC also warns the lanyard poses a strangulation hazard. No injuries or incidents have been reported.

The glow sticks were distributed in U.S. Dunkin' Donuts stores from September 2007 through October 2007.

Consumers should take the glow sticks away from young children and return them to any Dunkin' Donuts store.
