Iced-tea makers recalled over fire hazard

The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission issued a voluntary recall of iced-tea makers on Thursday because they pose a fire hazard.

The IT400 Iced Tea Maker was imported from China by Back to Basics Products LLC, of West Bend, Wis., and Bluffdale, Utah.

About 10,000 units have been sold, mostly at Bon-Ton department stores and hardware stores across the United States, through the JCPenney catalogue and internet retailers from April 2007 through July 2007 for between $40 and $50 each.

Consumers are being advised to stop using the iced-tea makers immediately and call Back to Basics Products to receive free replacement products or refunds.

The recall includes only products with a date code of CA1307 or CA1307-A. The model number is embossed on the bottom of the unit, and the date code is printed on a small white sticker, also on the bottom of the unit.

There have been no reports of injuries.
