Unauthorized sexual enhancement products may pose serious side effects

Health Canada is warning consumers not to use the sexual enhancement products Excite for women and Ultimates for men because they pose potential side-effects.

The products, which are not authorized for sale in Canada, have been found to contain an analogue of sildenafil – the generic name for Viagra – which should only be taken under the supervision of a health-care professional.

People with heart conditions or anyone at risk of a stroke are particularly at risk of suffering adverse side-effects.

The products are not sold in Canada, but may have been purchased by Canadians travelling abroad or by consumers over the internet. No adverse reactions have been reported to Health Canada.
