Scuba swivels recalled for drowning danger

California-based M&J Engineering is recalling about 1,500 AGA swivels for scuba diving masks because the swivels have been found to separate during use, posing a drowning danger to users.

The company has learned of one incident in which a swivel separated from the mask while diving. No injuries have been reported.

The recall applies to SW-3000 2nd stage 360-degree swivels for scuba diving masks manufactured between January 2004 and February 2005. The products were sold in diving retail stores in the U.S. from January 2004 and February 2005 for about $60 US each.

Consumers should stop using the affected scuba gear and contact the company for free repairs.
