Crib mattresses withdrawn for entrapment danger

About 1,000 Sleepi Crib Foam Mattresses, manufactured by Stokke, are being recalled because they pose an entrapment danger to children, the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission said Thursday.

The mattresses are not properly sized to fit the cribs, creating a potentially dangerous gap, it said.

No injuries have been reported.

The recall applies to cribs with the following model numbers: 660321, 660320, 660301,660305, 660318, 652268, 652269, 652246, 652247 and 652248.

The cribs were sold in stores and online from September 2006 through March 2007 for between $750 and $850 US each.

Consumers should stop using the cribs and contact the company for replacement mattresses.
