Aloha Breeze electric heaters withdrawn from marketplace

About 281,000 Aloha Breeze electric heaters are being recalled because they may overheat, creating a fire hazard, the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission said Thursday.

Texas-based Aloha Housewares has learned of seven incidents in which heaters melted, smoked or caught fire. One minor property damage report has also been filed. No injuries have been reported to the company.

The recall applies to heaters with the model number 05226 and with date codes 07/05, 08/05 and 11/05.

The heaters were sold at Wal-Mart stores in the U.S. from July 2005 to July 2007 for about $15 US each.

Consumers should stop using the heaters and contact the company for replacements.
