Pacifiers decorated with crystals recalled because of choking risk
Thursday, July 26, 2007 | 04:28 PM ET
About 1,000 pacifiers decorated with Swarovski crystals that were sold to consumers on Ebay in 2006 and 2007 are being recalled, said the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission.
The recall involves pacifiers that were made in the United States and purchased from the following retailers: Dara Linda's Baby Bling and Jewelry Design of Davie, Fla.; Bling Toes of Cherry Valley, Ill.; Baby Bling Things of Appleton, Wis.; PeaNaPod Bling and Accessories of Fort Wayne, Ind.; and MJM Crystal Designs of Boca Raton, Fla.
Swarovski did not manufacture the products or endorse their use. The crystals were glued on the pacifiers' handles and guards. They come in different colors and designs.
The pacifiers fail to meet federal safety standards for pacifiers. The pacifiers' crystals can separate easily, posing an aspiration and ingestion hazard to young children.
No injuries have been reported.
Consumers should take these pacifiers away from young children immediately and contact the firm for instructions on obtaining a full refund.
