Magnetic building sets recalled after serious injury

Kipp Brothers has recalled about 800 Mag Stix Magnetic Building sets after a serious intestinal injury was reported.

An eight-year-old girl swallowed several small magnets that came loose from the plastic sticks. She required extensive surgery to remove the magnets and repair intestinal perforations, the company said in the recall advisory released Thursday.

The Mag Stix sets contain 24 pieces, including 12 one-inch sticks, four 2.25-inch sticks and eight metal balls. The sticks are yellow, green, blue and rust coloured. The packaging is printed with "item no. 40330 Made in China" and UPC number 77704403301.
