Vivre Royale Pine Cone Candles recalled for fire hazard

About 2,700 candles are being withdrawn from the market because they could present a fire hazard to consumers, the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission said Thursday.

The candles, shaped like pine cones, were imported by New York-based Royal Products Inc. The coating and the beads surrounding the candle could ignite, the CPSC said. The company has learned of two associated incidents, including one report in which the product caused minor property damage.

The recall applies to candles sold with the item number 41419, sold in stores across the U.S. from October 2005 through December 2006 for between $12 and $15 US.

Consumers should stop using the product and return the candle for a refund.
