Cribs recalled from marketplace

About 40,000 Nursery-in-a-Box Cribs are being withdrawn because they pose choking, fall and entrapment dangers to children, the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission said Wednesday.

Assembly instructions for the crib's drop side are wrong and could cause the piece to come loose, the commission said. If the crib is not properly assembled, a child could fall or become trapped. Dislodged metal locking pins would also pose a choking danger.

The manufacturer Simplicity has received one report in which a crib, which was improperly assembled, collapsed.

The recall applies to cribs with the model number 8910 and 8050 with the serial number 3005 HY through 0806 HY. The cribs were sold in stores across the U.S. from August 2005 through May 2007 for about $200 US.

Consumers should check the crib to make sure the crib has been properly assembled and contact the company for proper assembly instructions.
