Small World toys pulled from marketplace

About 8,800 wooden toys are being recalled after magnets have been found to fall out of the structure, putting children at risk of aspiration and intestinal hazards.

The recall, issued Thursday by the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission, applies to the IQ Preschool Take-Apart townhouse with the model number 2408808, distributed by Small World Toys.

The CPSC said that if young children swallow more than one magnet, the magnets can be attracted to each other, creating a potentially fatal intestinal perforation or blockage.

Two reports of magnets coming loose from the townhouse have been filed. No injuries have been reported.

The toys were sold at retailers across the U.S. from December 2004 through February 2007 for about $21 US.

Consumers are urged to take the toys away from children and call the company for a replacement.
