Baby block tower toys recalled

Graco Children's Products is recalling about 40,000 soft block tower toys used with Baby Einstein activity centres because they pose a choking hazard to infants.

The company notes that plastic covers on the block towers can come free. The company has received 137 reports of infants mouthing and chewing pieces of the plastic film. The plastic caused 32 infants to gag and 49 to choke.

The recall applies to the block tower toys with the model number 4635BEE with the serial numbers 012705 through 063005.

The toys were sold at retailers and online outlets in the U.S. from February 2005 through December 2005 for about $80 US.

Consumers should remove the toy from the activity centre and contact the company for a free replacement.
