Safety warning issued for Craftsman circular saw

The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission on Thursday issued a recall of about 308,000 Craftsman Circular Saws because they pose a laceration danger to users.

The company says the Craftsman logo near the upper blade guard can become loose and interfere with the lower blade guard, exposing the saw's blade.

Sears has received two reports of the blade guard catching, including one incident of injury.
The recall involves the saws with the following model numbers: 172.108550, 172.108560, 172.108650, and 172.108660.

The saws were sold at various retailers across the U.S. and through online retailers from November 2004 through February 2007 for between $40 and $60 US.

Consumers should consult the Sears website for instructions on how to remove the Craftsman label.
