Key chains recalled for lead poisoning hazard
- April 3, 2007 1:29 PM
- By Peter Hadzipetros
Dollar General Merchandising is recalling about 396,000 metal key chains because they contain high levels of lead.
The recall includes key chains with a dangling sandal, charms or a letter.
The key chains were sold at Dollar General stores across the U.S. from December 2005 through January 2007 for $1.25 US.
Exposure to high levels of lead can cause vomiting, diarrhea, convulsions, coma or death. Symptoms include anemia, appetite loss, abdominal pain, constipation, fatigue, sleeplessness, irritability and headache.
People should return the key chains to the store for a refund or replacement.
