Laura Secord brand No Added Sugar Lactose Free Dark Chocolate Flavoured bars are being recalled because they contain milk protein that wasn't declared on their labels, Canada's food watchdog says.
The bars were distributed nationally, the Canadian Food Inspection Agency said Tuesday. The recall involves 40-gram bars with the UPC code UPC 0 67300 02111 1.
There has been one associated illness reported. Consumption of the bar may trigger a serious or life-threatening reaction in people with milk protein allergies.
Laura Secord is voluntarily recalling the bars from the marketplace and the CFIA is monitoring the effectiveness of the recall.
Consumers with questions can call the Laura Secord customer service line at 1-800-268-6353 or the CFIA at 1-800-442-2342.
