Ford to recall Crown Victoria police cars

- By Peter Hadzipetros
Ford is recalling a popular model sold as a police cruiser because some of the cars' wheels may develop cracks, the U.S. National Highway Traffic Safety Administration says.
Ford will start recalling up to 109,664 Crown Victorias built between 2003 and 2005 on March 12, the agency said.
The cracks "can ultimately result in rapid air loss from the tire and could affect vehicle control," it said.
As many as 5,400 Canadian vehicles may be affected, the London Free Press reported.
Ford is only recalling "current, active police pursuit vehicles," Ford spokesman Dan Jarvis told the Associated Press.
Dealers will replace the wheels, including the spare.
More information is available from Ford at 1-800-392-3673 or NHTSA at 1-888-327-4236.
