Coffee makers recalled for faulty heating element

About 21,000 Gevalia Kaffe Combo coffee makers that have been found to overheat are being pulled from the marketplace, the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission said Wednesday.

Gevalia has received 28 reports of coffee makers overheating, with damage ranging from a minor burn to damaged countertops.

The recall involves the 12-cup programmable Kaffe Combo coffee maker model number CM830.

The units were sold to consumers through catalogue sales and to members of the Gevalia Kaffe club from September 2006 through January 2007 for about $90 US.

Consumers should contact the company for a replacement.
