Sake warmers withdrawn because of burn danger
- February 22, 2007 4:08 PM
- By Peter Hadzipetros
About 2,000 sake warmers, distributed by Tap Machine Inc., are being recalled because they can spray hot sake during use.
The company has received one report of injury, in which a consumer received first- and second-degree burns while using the unit. The counter-top unit warms sake to over 60 C.
The recall involves model SM05 units with serial numbers ranging from 1001 through 3074.
The product was sold on the company's website, through telephone sales and at select stores across the United States from November 2005 through January 2007 for about $150 US.
Consumers should stop using the warmers and contact the company for a refund.
