Hooded sweatshirts, windbreakers recalled for strangulation danger
Wednesday, February 14, 2007 | 08:20 AM ET
About 20,000 hooded sweatshirts and windbreakers are being recalled because their drawstrings are potentially dangerous to children, the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission said Tuesday.
The clothing was imported by Florida-based Vacation Clothing, which also operates under the name Basix U.S.A. The CPSC warns that the drawstring threaded through the hood poses a strangulation danger to children.
No associated injuries have been reported.
The recall involves the hooded sweatshirts and windbreakers sized small through extra large. The sweatshirts and windbreakers were sold in a variety of colours. A tag sewn in the garment is marked with the style number PK215, PK218, KPF265, KPF275, or KH185.
The clothes were sold at department stores across the U.S. from May 2003 through December 2006 for between $20 and $50 US.
Consumers should remove the drawstring from the sweatshirts.
