Currey & Company lamps recalled for fire hazard

About 2,600 Currey & Company table and floor lamps are being recalled because they could short circuit and cause a fire, the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission has announced.

The CPSC said Friday that the light socket on the product is defective. The company has received six reports of the lamps tripping circuits. No associated injuries or property damage have been reported.

The recall involves the Thomasville table and floor lamps sold as part of the Felicity Collection. The lamps are marked with a model number starting with 60001 and ending with 1006, 1007, 1008, 1009, 1010, 1011, 1012, 1013, 1014, 1015, 1016, 1017, 1018, 1019 and 1020.

The products were sold at Thomasville Furniture dealers across the U.S. from August 2006 through October 2006 for between $240 US and $380 US each.

Consumers should stop using the lamps and return them to the store for a free replacement.
