Pool heaters recalled for carbon monoxide danger

Pentair water pool and spa is recalling about 105,000 of its pool heaters because they could cause carbon monoxide poisoning, the company and CSA International said Friday.

The heaters have been found to release excessive amounts of carbon monoxide, which could put users at risk if the unit has been installed for an indoor pool, the CSA said. No incidents or injuries have been reported.

The recall involves the Pentair MiniMax NT STD gas pool heaters with the following model numbers:

* 460427 through 460430
* 460439 through 460450
* 460531 through 460538
* 460543 through 460566

Units with the serial numbers 0606003 are not included in the recall.

The heaters were sold throughout Canada and the U.S. through pool heater distributors and pool equipment dealers from April 2002 through May 2006.

Customers should stop using the pool heaters if they are installed indoors and contact the company for an inspection and repair.
