The Canadian Food Inspection Agency has updated an allergy alert issued Jan 24, saying Green Bean Cake was distributed more widely than earlier thought.
Green Bean Cake, which contained a sesame filling that was not declared on its label, was distributed in Manitoba, Quebec, Nova Scotia and New Brunswick not just Ontario, as originally announced.
Wing On New Group Canada Inc., in Markham, Ont., is voluntarily recalling the affected product, which is imported from China and sold in 240-gram packages bearing the UPC 6 927091 806011. All codes are affected by the alert.
The CFIA is monitoring the recall.
There has been one reported reaction associated with the product, which may cause a serious or life-threatening reaction in people with allergies to sesame seeds.
For more information, consumers and industry can call the CFIA at 1-800-442-2342 / TTY 1-800-465-7735 (8:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. ET, Monday to Friday).
