- By Peter Hadzipetros
General Motors Corp. announced Wednesday that it is recalling about 98,000 Chevrolet Cobalt and Pursuit vehicles to improve head impact protection.
The recall involves 2005-2006 model vehicles that were not outfitted with roof-mounted side impact air bags, the company said. A General Motors spokewoman said 23,566 vehicles are being recalled in Canada.
There have been no related injuries, the company said. GM spokesman Alan Adler said dealers will install plastic to the head area and noted the head impact problem would only affect people not wearing a seatbelt.
