Ultrex pressure Cookers recalled for burn hazard

About 1,450 Ultrex-brand pressure cookers are being recalled because they pose a burn hazard to users, the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission says.

The pressure cooker's lid may open while cooking, causing the hot contents to be expelled. HSN LP, previously known as the Home Shopping Network, has received two reports of injuries in which users suffered second- and third-degree burns.

The recall involves the eight-quart pressure-cooker set with the model number 11453. The product was sold on HSN's television network, on its website, through a toll-free number and at an employee store in St. Petersburg, Fla., from June 2003 through Oct. 2004 for about $90 US.

Consumers should stop using the product immediately and contact the company at (877) 710-1527 for a refund.
