About 5,900 climbing harnesses are being recalled because they could cause people to fall, the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission said Tuesday.
The buckles on the Edelweiss Challenge Climbing Harnesses, distributed by Liberty Mountain, could fail, endangering the user, the CPSC says.
Liberty Mountain has received five reports of the product failing but no injuries have been reported.
The harnesses were sold at climbing equipment stores in the U.S., through Liberty Mountain's catalogue and various online retailers from January 2005 through September 2006 for about $47.
Consumers should stop using the harnesses and contact the company for an inspection and repair.
