Geissberger cider recalled for lead contamination threat

Geissberger Cider Mill is recalling some of its pasteurized apple cider products because of a possible lead contamination threat, the Canadian Food Inspection Agency has advised.

The products were sold at craft shows and at the farm in Ontario during the month of November.

The recall, which does not include unpasteurized products, involves:

· Sweet Apple Cider Pasteurized, two and four litres.
· Sparkling Sweet Apple Cider Pasteurized, 375 ml and 750 ml.

There have been no reported illnesses associated with the consumption of this product.

Exposure to lead can cause damage to the central nervous system, kidneys and blood. Children are particularly at risk of lead poisoning.
