Children's necklaces recalled for lead poisoning hazard

About 51,500 necklaces are being recalled because they pose a lead poisoning hazard, the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission has announced.

The necklaces contain high levels of lead, which can be toxic if ingested by children.

No associated incidents of injury have been reported.

Involved in the recall are the Mood Necklace with the UPC number 89884641001 and the Diva Necklace with the UPC number 898846200186.

The jewelry was sold at children's, dollar and discount stores in the United States from September 2004 through November 2006 for about $1 US.

Consumers should return the recalled jewelry to the store for a full refund.
