Thousands of Christmas lights are being recalled in Ontario because of possible faulty wiring.
The recall, ordered Friday by the Electrical Safety Authority, affects 36-bulb indoor-outdoor string bulbs with the brand name Greenlite.
The LEDs were not sold in stores, but were distributed by power utilities in the province in an exchange program for consumers wishing to trade in their incandescent holiday lights.
Consumers are advised to stop using the lights immediately and contact their utility or Greenlite Lighting Corp. toll-free at 1-877-255-0004 for further information.
The wiring problems could cause shocks or even fires, but Hydro One says no one has reported problems with the lights.
Other utilities distributing the lights include Hydro One of Brampton, Powerstream of Markham, Horizon Utilities Corp. of Hamilton, Enersource Hydro of Mississauga and Hydro One in Sudbury, Owen Sound and Dryden.
