Canadians are being warned not to eat cooked ham and turkey products from an Ohio-based company that could be contaminated with listeria.
The Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) says products from The Honey Baked Ham Company could be contaminated with listeria bacteria, which can cause high fever, severe headache, neck stiffness and nausea.
These products have been available to Canadians through internet and telephone catalogue sales, said the agency.
Affected products, which may not appear spoiled, include:
- Sliced & Glazed Fully Cooked Half Ham — six- to 11-pound packages with the establishment number EST. 15875 inside the USDA seal of inspection; Package codes between 6261 and 6310.
- Sliced & Glazed Fully Cooked Whole Ham — 12- to 16-pound packages with EST. 15875 inside the USDA seal of inspection; Package code between 6261 and 6310.
- Sliced and Glazed Cooked Boneless Turkey Breast — three-pound (approximate) weight per package with P-15875; Package code between 6248 and 6258 and Product code 30505 02099.
- Sliced & Glazed Fully Cooked Smoked Boneless Turkey Breast — three-pound (approximate) weight per package with P-15875; Package code between 6248 and 6258 and Product code 30504 02099.
The Canadian alert was issued after the U.S. Department of Agriculture confirmed direct sales to Canadian consumers of products recalled by HoneyBaked Foods of Holland, Ohio.
CFIA says there have been no reported illnesses associated with the consumption of these products.
