Outdoor gas fire pits pose fire hazard
- October 5, 2006 1:17 PM
- By Peter Hadzipetros
Agio International is recalling about 22,000 outdoor gas fire pits, saying they pose a fire hazard to users.
The company said a regulator hose may rupture, presenting a fire risk outside the unit.
Agio has received eight reports of hoses rupturing. There have been no incidents of injury but consumers have complained of damage to decks.
The models included in the recall are 98500 and 98500A. The fire pits were sold at home improvement stores and various online retailers, from September 2005 through July 2006 for, between $400 and $1,400 US.
Consumers should stop using the product immediately and contact Agio for a free repair kit.
