Ford Motor Co. is recalling about 145,000 vehicles, including 13,683 in Canada, to repair defective door latches, the automaker said Wednesday.
The vehicles included in the recall are the 2005 Five Hundred, 2005 Mercury Montego sedans and 2005-06 Freestyle.
Ford officials said water could seep into the side-door latch, causing it to freeze in cold conditions and swing open the door in traffic.
There have been no accidents or injuries related to the issue.
In a separate action, Ford is also recalling 6,164 front-wheel drive Escape hybrid SUVs, including 194 vehicles in Canada.
Ford officials found that a shaft could fracture, preventing the powertrain from sending power to the wheels.
This problem could cause the vehicle to move when stationed in the park position. No related incidents of crashes or injuries have been reported.
