Allergy alert: Undeclared milk protein in imported coffee mixes

People with allergies to milk protein should not consume certain imported coffee mixes, the Canadian Food Inspection Agency says.

Manufacturer Aik Cheong failed to declare milk protein on its labels for instant cappuccino white coffee and instant coffee mix.

Included in the recall are products with UPC numbers 9 556771 000295 and 9 556771 000097.

The CFIA is monitoring the effectiveness of the voluntary recall and is conducting an investigation. There have been no associated illnesses reported.

These products may cause a serious or life-threatening reaction in people with milk protein allergies, the agency said.
