Gildan Activewear recalls youth hooded sweatshirts
- September 21, 2006 10:43 AM
- By Peter Hadzipetros
Gildan Activewear is recalling about 114,000 hooded sweatshirts because they pose a danger of strangulation, the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission has announced.
The sweatshirts are threaded with a drawstring through the hood. No incidents or injuries have been reported.
The fleece sweatshirts were sold in youth sizes extra-small to extra-large and carry a neck label reading Gildan Activewear. Wholesale distributors sold the sweatshirts to local print shops, which added logos and sportswear decals, from January 2006 through September 2006.
Consumers are advised to remove the drawstring.
Consumers can call Gildan toll-free at (877) 445-3265 Ext. 4090 between 9 a.m. and 6 p.m. ET Monday through Friday.
