Dietary supplement poses potential health risks: Health Canada
- August 31, 2006 10:46 AM
- By Peter Hadzipetros
The Salt Spring Herbals Sleep Well Dietary Supplement contains the undeclared drug estazolam, a sedative that can be habit-forming, Health Canada is advising consumers.
The agency advises consumers to consult a health-care professional before they stop taking the capsules because of a risk of withdrawal symptoms.
The Canadian distributor has issued a recall. No adverse reactions have been associated with consumption of the product. The product has been found on the Canadian market but is not authorized for sale in Canada.
