California entrepreneur and attorney Terrye L. Cheathem admits the greeting cards she makes aren't what you might expect, with sentiments such as, "Sorry about your arrest" and "Thanks for bringing the kids to see me."
Cheathem's Three Square Greetings produces cards for people behind bars. She says she recognized the need for such products when her brother-in-law was serving time.
"There weren't any cards on the shelf that said anything like, 'Hey, you must make better choices,'" she said.
"With more than 2.5 million people incarcerated in the United States today, I saw there was a tremendous need," she said of the cards, which are sold online and in California stores.
The cards are grouped into categories that include thanks for coming to court, thanks for visiting, cards requesting prayer, and thinking about you.
