India's Bengal Enamel has unveiled the newest contender for the title of world's cheapest car: the Tara Tiny.
The Tiny comes on the market a month after the Tata Nano, with only one rupee separating the price of the ultra-cheap cars, which both sell for roughly $2,500.
The four-seater, battery operated Tiny should be on the market in the next four to five months, the company says. The car has a range of 100 km and a top speed of 70 km/hr.
Bengal Enamel says it plans to unveil three other electric cars in the coming months, the Tara Titu, Tara Micro and Tara Mini. The company is also working on buses, battery-powered two-wheelers and three-wheeled auto rickshaws.
There are currently no plans to bring either the Tiny or the Nano to North America or Europe.
