Wiser's has released a little holiday cheer for Saskatchewan Roughrider fans hoping to celebrate the toast of the town.
Corby Distilleries on Thursday rolled out its limited edition 750 ml bottles of Wiser's whisky, featuring special green and gold collectable labels. About 4,000 cases, or 48,000 bottles, have been produced for sale in the province.
The bottles are a hot commodity, discovered consumer Dave Todd, who said two liquor stores he visited were already sold out of the whisky.
"I don't even drink rye, but I'll tell you what — these are keepers," he said. "By the time they win the next Grey Cup, it'll probably be 25 years or something, so then it'll be aged and awesome."
Roy DaCosta of Corby Distilleries said the special bottles celebrate Rider pride.
"Wiser's Reserve Canadian Whisky is made in small batches in the tradition of a special blend that J.P. Wiser reserved for his close family and friends," he said. "It is only fitting then, that we release this limited quantity of Wiser's Reserve in a keepsake bottle to share with our friends and fellow Roughriders fans across the province of Saskatchewan."
