A rich blend of cocoas from 14 different countries, mixed with five grams of gold and served with a side of French truffles, has set a Guinness world record for the priciest dessert, ringing in at $25,000 US.
The Frrrozen Haute Chocolate, created at the famed Manhattan eatery Serendipity 3, is an upscale variation of its beloved Frrrozen Hot Chocolate — a cold, rich blend of slushy cocoa, topped with whipped cream priced at $8.50 US.
The higher-priced variation, served with whipped cream and gold shavings, is dished up in a diamond-encrusted goblet with an accompanying bejewelled gold spoon. Diners are invited to take the spoon home with them.
The restaurant says while there have been no special orders placed yet, it has fielded inquiries from tourists expecting to visit the city.
