Nothing says 'I love you' like a photo frame made of panda poop

The Associated Press

The Chengdu Giant Panda Breeding Base in Beijing has come up with a dung-for-profit plan that turns panda droppings into odour-free souvenirs.

They're selling stuff like bookmarks and Olympic-themed statues of pandas.

An official who answered the phone at the Chengdu facility says the dung is "carefully selected, smashed, dried and sterilized" at 300 C.

He says the products will be of all colours because they will be dyed.

"They don't smell too bad because 70 per cent of the dung is just remains of the bamboo that the pandas are unable to digest," he says.

About 40 pandas live together in the breeding facility. They eat bamboo and produce about a tonne of excrement a day.
