Only women will be allowed to stay on the 19th floor of a new Marriott hotel currently under construction in Grand Rapids, Mich., the company said this week.
Marriott spokeswoman Andrea Groom said that when the new hotel opens in September, the designated floor will have a special women's lounge and rooms that are outfitted with special features for women, including hair dryers, jewelry holders and plush throws.
Groom told the Grand Rapids Press that women have said they want to relax at the end of the day in a lounge without fending off unwanted attention from men.
The hotel plans on charging women who want to stay on the 19th floor about $30 US more than the standard room rate.
