A Czech resort has taken beer to a new height: 34 C, to be precise.
That's the temperature of the brew made by the Chodovar spa/brewery when it's used for a beer bath.
"The major bath ingredient is dark Bathing beer, which is produced in a traditional way based on the copyright original method," the spa's website says.
The surface of the bath "is covered by characteristic beer foam of caramel colour and the area is scented by the fragrance of freshly brewed dark beer."
The tub also includes mineral water, active beer yeast and herbs.
The point of the beer bath is medicinal: the pores open, the vascular system is stimulated and the yeast provides vitamins and other health benefits.
But not all the good things are on the outside. "To increase the outcome of the bath and enhance the relaxation experience, the guests are recommended a glass of unique non-pasteurised Rock lager including active yeast culture," which helps the digestive system.
The price for a 20-minute beer bath, 20 minutes of relaxation and two beers? About $30 (550 koruna) for one person or $52 (950 koruna) for two.
