A New York City spa is offering relief to people with numb thumbs, exhausted from punching out e-mails and text messages on their BlackBerry and mobile devices.
Graceful Services has begun providing acupressure treatment to relieve inflamed joints with its BlackBerry finger massage, offered at $60 US for a one-hour treatment.
"We concentrate on the muscles related to the fingers, like back muscles, neck muscles and arms," owner Grace Gao Macnow told Reuters.
Last August, the American Physical Therapy Association deemed BlackBerry thumb an official workplace ailment, caused by checking and composing e-mails and messages on handheld personal digital assistants.
Symptoms include swelling, hand throbbing and tendinitis, and the ailment can cause chronic pain.
