A self-proclaimed witch in Germany is being forced to issue a refund for failing to cast a love spell on a frustrated client's former boyfriend.
The witch must pay the equivalent of $1,400 Cdn on the grounds that she promised a service that was "objectively completely impossible," the Munich administrative court said Monday.
The court did not release the identity of either woman but court documents showed that the client contacted the witch to perform a love spell to win back her boyfriend, who left her in 2003.
"The defendant carried out the corresponding ritual over several months, each time under a full moon, but without success," a court statement said.
The witch denied that she had ever guaranteed results but the court deemed that irrelevant, saying "a love ritual is not suited to influencing a person from a distance."
