Eminem, also known as Marshall Mathers and Slim Shady, has some new kicks for diehard fans. The outspoken American rapper is teaming up with Nike to produce a limited edition line of sneakers to be auctioned for charity.
Bids will be accepted for the eight pairs of shoes over the next four weeks at Nike stores in Europe and on the internet auction site eBay. The first pair of shoes will be unveiled Thursday.
"If you told me ten years ago that I'd be designing this whole series of Air Max's, I never would have believed it," the Grammy-winning rapper said in a release. "My only problem was figuring out how to make the shoes different from stuff they've already done: Nike always has the dopest colour combos."
Proceeds from the sales of the Air Max sneakers will go to the Marshall Mathers Foundation, which provides funds to organizations helping troubled youth, and the UN campaign ninemillion.org which aims to bring education and sports programs to young refugees around the globe.
"We're always looking for new ways to try to raise money and awareness for the foundation, so when Nike approached us we jumped at the chance. When we got the info on ninemillion.org, it made even more sense," Eminem said.
