The Shame Game, and Talking with the Taliban
The mob mentality that overtook Vancouver's streets after the Stanley Cup final has now spread to those who want justice. As rioters come forward to apologize, they're under fire from the public. Olympic hopeful Nathan Kotylak tried to confess - but before he could, his address and phone number were already posted online. Now, he and his family have been forced to leave their home. Tonight we're looking into public shaming. Does it work? And is the cost too great?
Plus, the U.S. is talking with the Taliban. Both the U.S. and Afghanistan governments confirmed the talks this weekend. This as President Barack Obama is getting set to detail the future of the U.S. mission in Afghanistan . With several members of Congress pushing for significant cuts to the number of U.S. troops on the ground, is talking with the Taliban the only way to win the war in Afghanistan?
And as Canada begins withdrawing combat troops from Afghanistan, we're taking Connect on the road. Next week Mark Kelley will report live from Afghanistan.
Reshmi Nair is hosting this week. Tune in at 8 p.m. ET on CBC NN.
