Police from across North America gathered today in Toronto to remember Sgt. Ryan Russell, who was killed while trying to stop a stolen snowplow. Nick Purdon rides with police officers on their way to the funeral and John Northcott speaks with members of the public who are also mourning the loss. Tonight, we try to understand what fuels such a massive outpouring of grief.
U.S. Congresswoman Gabrielle Giffords could be released from hospital within days or weeks. Meanwhile, her medical condition has been upgraded from critical to serious, just eight days after she was shot in the head. Tonight, we look at the long road to recovery - with Daniel Vaughan, who was shot in the head four times and survived. He shares his incredible story with us tonight.
