Canadian freestyle women's wrestlers captured three gold medals Thursday, part of a banner Day 4 for Canada at the Commonwealth Games in Delhi.

Olympic champion Carol Huynh of Hazelton, B.C., won the 48-kilogram weight class, defeating crowd favourite Nirmila Devi of India 7-3 in the final.

Justine Bouchard of Wetaskiwin, Alta., took the 63 kg gold by beating Nigeria's Blessing Orududu 6-2.

Ohenewa Akuffo of Brampton, Ont., won the 72 kg division with a 4-3 decision over Annabelle-Laure Ali of Cameroon.

That makes six medals for Canadian wrestlers at the Delhi Games. Jack Bond (silver), Promise Mwegna (bronze) and Eric Feunekes (bronze) reached the podium in their men's Greco-Roman events.

Fuenekes lost his third-place match, but was awarded the bronze after an Australian wrestler was stripped of his silver for making a rude gesture to officials following his loss in the final.

The three wrestling victories were part of the nine gold medals won by Canada's Commonwealth Games team on Thursday.
