Toronto's Shahier Razik, who's 27th in the men's world rankings, was included on a list of withdrawals issued by Commonwealth Games Canada on Thursday. The release did not include specifics on Razik's injury.
The release said an alternate for Razik will not be named for the Games in New Delhi, India, which begin Sunday.
The four-time Canadian men's champion was being looked upon to lead Canada's squash team along with three-time women's champion Alana Miller.
Five other Canadians were removed from the Commonwealth Games roster: wrestlers John Pineda and Khetag Pliev and cyclist Alison Testroete withdrew due to injuries, while boxers Colin Fish and Steven Rolls were removed by Boxing Canada after failing to attend a mandatory training camp, according to the release.
Wrestler Corey Jarvis was named as a replacement for Pliev, while Promise Mwenga will now do double duty in wrestling's Greco-Roman and freestyle categories to make up for the absence of Pineda.
No other additions were made to the Canadian team.
With the latest roster moves, Canada’s team is now made up of 251 athletes. The squad is aiming to finish in the top three in the medal standings.
